Hi and thanks for visiting 🙂

I’m a UK based writer currently working on my PhD in Creative Writing. I’m looking at gender, class and the Essex Everywoman in the evolution of a composite novel.

Currently teaching in various institutions including the University of Essex (Literature and Creative Writing) and Adult Community Learning Essex (Creative Writing), I’ve recently received a commended Fellowship of the Higher Education Authority. I also work in primary teaching, so have a real mix of environments and students on a weekly basis, which I love.

Everyone is welcome to join us at Colchester WriteNight a monthly community writing event I curate, now online.

I run short fiction workshops and have interviewed authors/panels at Felixstowe and Essex Book Festivals. Last year I interviewed A.L. Kennedy online for Wivenhoe Bookshop, James Canton for Essex Book Festival, Naomi Booth for Short Fiction Journal, Nik Perring for Colchester WriteNight, as well as hosting a poetry reading event for Patrician Press. I was Colchester Events Coordinator for Essex Book Festival in 2022.

Previously I worked on the editorial board of Short Fiction Journal, where as a team we selected the monthly published stories, and the shortlist for the University of Essex/Short Fiction Prize. I was also one of the team judging the ACL 500 word short story competition 2020 and 2021.

My second collection of short fiction, Gold Adornments, was published by Patrician Press in March 2017, on International Women’s Day. Here is a collection of pics from readings and publications at the Essex Book Festival, University of Essex, Patrician Press author events, Felixstowe Book Festival, The Enemies Project and Colchester WriteNight.

If you’re interested in collaborating on a creative project, let me know…I feel like 2023 is a year of collaboration and community, more so than ever before!
