Join me for Creative Writing courses at Adult Community Learning Essex

Join me at Colchester WriteNight  on a monthly basis, fourth Monday of the month, 7pm. All welcome. Email colchesterwritenight@gmail.com for details.

I am a Fixed Term Teacher (FHEA) at the University of Essex and for the last five years have taught Creative Writing, Origins and Transformations in Literature, Postmodern Literature and Memory Maps (masters) modules, as well as lecturing on women’s suffrage comedies (using the work of Prof Katharine Cockin).

I work for Essex Book Festival and have led short fiction/creative writing and performance workshops for Essex and Felixstowe Book Festivals over the last five years, as well as interviewing/introducing authors. This year I am coordinating the Manifesto for Essex youth climate action project, including Tendring schools eco-poetry workshops for year 5/6s.

As an experienced primary and creative writing teacher, having taught in all areas of education for 20 years, I’m able to provide fun and engaging creative writing workshops for groups at all ages. One of my specialisms is teaching the lowest achieving children to read and write (Primary, Reading Recovery, Fischer Family Trust Trainer qualified) and can provide guided reading sessions, oral story-telling, phonics and writing sessions on an individual or group basis.
